Your experience is kind of why I have held off from having my BD 2of 1. I know it seems some folks swear by Keeley mods, or other mods of the Blues Driver, but I have always been worried about messing up what I have already. FWIW, I cant speak for any modded BD 2, but the stock one does have its sweet and ugly spots. I use mine mainly as a low Gain ODvolume boost with my Level at around NOON, my Tone around 1. Gain around 9 1. I sort of skip the middle range of the Gain control as it does get fizzy and unfocused, so I will use other pedals when I want a more mid level Drive but I will crank the Gain for a fuzzlike tone for a few songs. Thats just how I have learned to use mine.
